Collaborations – LTS and the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS)

Working or interning in the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) at the University of Oregon is an additional opportunity for LTS students and alumni.

CASLS is one of just sixteen National Foreign Language Resource Centers that work to develop and share resources for innovative K-16 world language teaching, materials development, instructional technology, and assessment.

LTS students and alumni work with CASLS in a variety of ways: as interns for elective credit, as Graduate Employees, and sometimes as staff after graduation, as is the case for Li-Hsien Yang (class of 2011), Ben Pearson (class of 2015), and Christopher Daradics (class of 2016).

Dr. Julie Sykes is both faculty in the Department of Linguistics/LTS and the CASLS Director. Dr. Sykes regularly teaches an elective course for LTS students on pragmatics in language teaching.
